Who are we ?

The Orchestra and Choir of Paris Universities, an association created in 1993, currently counts young amateur musicians from about twenty countries, who have studied music for several years.

The O.C.U.P., the C.R.O.U.S (Regional Centre for University and School Organizations) of Paris and the universities of Paris are united by a partnership that enjoys the support of the C.N.O.U.S (National Centre for University and School Organizations). It gives nearly 300 instrumentalists and choir singers, coming from all Ile-de-France Universities and studying the most various disciplines, the opportunity to progress musically while discovering original works, in an environment that combines high musical standards and conviviality.

2004 and 2005 saw the birth of various small formations (chamber orchestra, celli ensemble) which complemented the already existing mixed choir and symphonic orchestra. As a result, the range of musical works accessible widened, for the benefit of the whole student community of Paris.

The level reached by the various formations has already made it possible for the musicians to take part in exchange programs with renowned musical formations from several European universities. After Cambridge, Leipzig, Heidelberg, Berlin and Bologne, the orchestras and choirs seek other partnerships liable to lead to exchange programs and encounters with other student audiences. Other exchange programs with European universities are planned for the next few years.
