Who can enrol ?
The Ensembles
The symphonic (and chamber) orchestra welcomes students who have received advanced musical training in a conservatoire or a music school (the minimum level required is “fin d’études”, which is equivalent to ten years of training).
The choir welcomes students who can and like to sing. Although it is strongly advised to know musical theory, it is not absolutely required.
These ensembles are open to students from all Ile-de-France universities. They also welcome teachers and administrative staff from Paris universities.
The Rehearsals
Two-hour-long rehearsals are held once a week during the course of the academic year. They take place in the Sorbonne for the choir and in conservatoires for the orchestra, both in the evening, between 7 pm and 10 pm. In addition, monthly day-long rehearsals are organized. These allow each section to work separately under the supervision of renowned orchestra musicians. They give the orchestra and the choir the opportunity to play in tutti in a relaxed and convivial atmosphere.
Exchange programs with foreign universities
There have been cultural exchange programs with foreign universities since 1996. We thus welcomed the Cambridge University Orchestra (CUMS II), the Leipzig Chamber Orchestra and the Heidelberg University Orchestra and, in February 2008, the Collegium Musicum of Berlin University. The O.C.U.P. orchestra had been to Berlin earlier in the month. The O.C.U.P. choir, on the other hand, gave two concerts in Bologna in May 2008.
